Chicago Convention that was signed on 7 December 1944 by 52 States to help to create and preserve friendship and understanding among the nations and peoples of the world. It was decided in the agreement that no airplane fuel would be taxed. It is now difficult to recover taxes because the decision should be signed in all the countries that have approved the agreement. If flying were taxed, air travel would be reduced and become less of a concern for climate change.

Flying once was reality for only few of us, but now most of us is flying. By 2036, global air traffic is expected to almost double itself. Then there are already eight billion air passengers every year. Unless emission-free fuels are developed or price control can be achieved through taxation and emissions trading, we will at some point be in a situation where we have to limit flying.
